Alan Wilkinson

Mayor of Bolton: 2000-01 (Conservative)

Born: Sharoe Green Hospital, Preston, Lancashire 6 November 1948

Educated: Red Lane CP School; Crompton Fold CP School; Canon Slade Grammar School, Bolton

Moved to Bolton as an infant.

He was a trader at Bolton's Ashburner Street market for 21 years. A mid-life career change to become a nurse was cut short by a serious car crash in 1991.

Represented Bromley Cross Ward from 1981. Retired in May 2018 after 37 years continuous service.

Magistrate from 2000.

President of Dunscar Conservative Club.

Member of Bolton North East Conservative Association.

Member of the Rotary Club of Turton.

As Mayor unveiled plaques at Eagley Mills, Hitachi Middlebrook and Royal Mail, Calvin Street.

Made Honorary Alderman, Wednesday 10 October 2018.

He is a keen amateur genealogist.


His wife, Denise, was Mayoress.
