Colin Shaw

Mayor of Bolton: 2013-14 (Conservative)

Educated: Farnworth Grammar School

Former builder’s merchant in Moses Gate, he worked in the family firm for more than 40 years before retiring.

The company was set up by his great great grandfather with the coming of the railway to Farnworth and is now part of Travis Perkins.

Ward councillor for Deane-cum-Heaton ward and then Heaton and Lostock. Retired May 2018.

Chairman of the Adults and Corporate Scrutiny Committees.

Chairman of the Licensing Committee.

Member of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Audit Committee.

Former special constable and member of the Territorial Army.

Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Bolton University July 2014, Doctor of Humanities, Services to the Community.

Made Honorary Alderman, Wednesday 10 October 2018.

His wife, Dee, was Mayoress.
