He owned quite a lot of land in Horwich and was involved in the development of the Brownlow Estate, Victoria Road and other areas.
Architect of the Beehive Mill in Horwich.
Elected to the Local Board in 1889. Magistrate.
Vice Chairman of the Conservative Club.
He was a Freemason and a prominent Churchman.
