Leonard Haslam

Mayor of Farnworth: 1970-71 (Labour)

Served as an instructor in the Honourable Artillery Company in the Second World War and after demobilisation worked at Brackley Pit.

In 1951 he became porter at Bolton District General Hospital and then was a driver for the Bolton District General Hospital Management Committee.

Represented South Ward from 1962.

Member of Road Safety, Baths, Markets, Highways, Parks, Cemetery, Entertainments and Health Committees.

Assistant Secretary of Farnworth and Kearsley Labour Club, member of the Executive of the Divisional and Local Labour Party.

Manager of St Peter's School and Governor of George Tomlinson School.

A keen footballer, he played centre forward for Worsley Road Methodists and was a trainer for Our Lady of Lourdes FC and Little Hulton Albion FC. He played bowls for the Labour Club and Kearsley Social Club and was Secretary of Townleys Branch Hospital Bowling Club.
