Builder and contractor based at Blackrock Mill, Turton Bottoms.

Represented Edgworth Ward from 1950.

Lancashire County Councillor.

First Treasurer of Edgworth and Chapeltown Over-60s Movement.

First Secretary of Turton Old People's Welfare Committee.

His company provided brickwork for the 52 original houses built on Toppings Estate in 1946 (before he was a Councillor.)

Freemason - member of St John's 348 Lodge.

Anglican - he worshipped at St Anne's Church, Chapeltown, Turton, holding several offices including People's Warden.
