Ironfounder - son of George Chatton, ironfounder.
Represented West Ward from 1900, retiring on health grounds in 1927.
Was responsible for the demolition of the old Unicorn Inn in the centre of Little Lever to improve the roadways.
Represented Little Lever on the Housing and Town Planning organizations, the Electricity Advisory Board
Represented Little lever on Farnworth Hospital Board for 17 years, being Chairman three times.
Member of Bury and District Water Board for 27 years, being its Chairman for one year.
Little Lever's Governor of the Grammar School.
